Coastal erosion...Porthcothan Bay

Just been down to Porthcothan to see the old Arch Rock...looks like its changed a bit over the years....Here's a photo I took in November 2013...

Just been down there today to take another photo....January 2017...

It looks like another section has fallen away fairly recently...

Now has a flat top !

Back in January 2014 we had the major rockfall at Jan Levertons Island...or as it was sometimes known. the 'Donut'.
Just a reminder of how it looked at Christmas 2013....

Then soon after in January 2014 it looked like this...

It was a well-documented event...featuring in the Cornish Guardian, the Sun Newspaper and even on Sky News ! Aswell as many online news sites...

This is how it looks today....

Good luck people out there ! Stay safe and see you soon :)

Bike ride

Well, now the stormy weather seems to have calmed down a bit, I thought it would be a good idea to buy a new bike. I went for a little excursion today...bit further than I had planned ! I reckon was a good 25 to 30 miles...Haven't got any lights for the bike yet...but got back just in time.

Started at St Eval. Then Porthcothan, Treyarnon, Constantine, Harlyn, St Merryn and back to St Eval.

Ship Wreck

French fishing boat on the rocks...

CREW RESCUED AFTER FISHING BOAT DAMAGED BY LARGE WAVES OFF CORNWALL

Six people have been rescued from their fishing boat after it was damaged in the rough sea off the north Cornwall coast.
Falmouth Coastguard was first contacted about the French fishing boat Le Sillon just before 4pm this afternoon by the French Coastguard. They reported that the boat had been hit by a number of large waves and they had lost power and steering, and were drifting approximately 5 miles off Trevose Head. The wind at the time was gusting up to 60 mph.
The RNLI all-weather lifeboat from Padstow, along with the search and rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose was sent to the scene. Five of the crew were picked up by the Royal Navy helicopter and the other crew member was recovered by the lifeboat. There are no reported injuries.
